Harley Davidson dealership helps Danville police buy new bulletproof vests

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - The Danville Police Department will soon be getting two more bulletproof vests thanks to Thunder Road Harley Davidson.

The dealership's chief operating officer and business manager presented a $550 check to Danville's police chief Tuesday morning.

They say this is something the felt like they needed to do given everything that has happened to law enforcement officers around the country recently.

"We felt it'd be an appropriate thing to do to show them our appreciation for what they do in the community. We want them to go back home at the end of the day, or the end of their shift, to their families," said Chief Operating Officer Michael Lipford.

Lipford continued, "If there's anything we can do to make it safer for them, then that's what we want to do."

The police department plans to but the vests along with the other vests they currently have on order.
