Protesters gather in Roanoke in opposition to Trump

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - There was a supportive crowd inside the Hotel Roanoke and a handful of protestors outside of the event.

Some were holding up signs that read "Never Trump" and other opposing words. They say the Republican candidate is dividing the country with his rhetoric.

When it comes to the issues, some union workers say the Republican presidential nominee is not on their side when it comes to topics like raising the minimum wage.

Clinton supporters also responded to Trump fans who chanted "crooked Hilary."

"That's ridiculous that is the kind hate-led talk they've been spewing," Clinton supporter Rick Howell said. "They really should be ashamed. Hillary is the most qualified present candidate we've had in half a century. Trump can't touch that and his people know it. They are just desperate"

While there was some opposition, it remained a mild day.
