Danville police and the humane society team up to combat hot car deaths

DANVILLE (WSLS10) - The Danville Police Department and the Danville Area Humane Society are teaming up to help prevent hot car deaths.

The humane society had a sign made to warn about the dangers of leaving people and pets in hot cars.

It now sits in the front window of a police car which will be parked at various spots around the city.

"We hope that we get the point across. That's one of the effective ways to do it; draw attention with the police car and the sign there," Danville Police Chief Col. Phillip Broadfoot emphasized. It gets very, very hot in the cars."

The latest report of a hot car death is in Dallas, where a two year old boy died over the weekend.

So far this year though, there have been no hot car related deaths in Danville.
