Martinsville police arrest stabbing suspect

MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - A man was treated for stab wounds after an argument in Martinsville on Thursday.

Police responded to a reported stabbing in the 1100 block of Pine Hall Road.

They identified a man and woman who said they had been assaulted by a another man.

Police identified the suspect as Vincent Maurice Penn, 39, of Martinsville.

The victims said they knew Penn and they were with him at a home on Pine Hall Road.

They said the assault happened after the two men got into an argument, which escalated into the confrontation.

The male victim was treated and released from Memorial Hospital.

Officers located Penn walking on Fayette Street a short time after the incident.

He was arrested and charged with felony malicious wounding, felony unlawful wounding and misdemeanor drunk in public.

Penn is being held without bond at the Martinsville City Jail.
