Hundreds of students study careers in the arts at Taubman Museum

ROANOKE (WSLS10) - Hundreds of Roanoke students are learning about careers in the arts at the Taubman Museum of Art. It's part of Roanoke Public School's summer enrichment program.

The 5-5-5 program introduces fifth graders to five careers in five days. So far, students have learned about culinary arts, robotics and music. On Monday, the group visited the museum.

"They're entering middle school. And middle school is when we start talking about career plans for the future, and all of the different programs we do offer they can participate in when they get to the high-school level," said Kathleen Duncan, the career and technical education director for RCPS. "It's not too early to start planning."

The program is in its ninth year and aims to get students interested in different careers.
