Kevin Green, WAVY – NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Former Virginia Tech football star Marcus Vick will be serving one month in prison for a resisting arrest charge.
Vick, the brother of NFL star Michael Vick, pleaded guilty Monday to resisting arrest in connection with an incident in early April.
He was also facing charges of assault on a law enforcement officer and obstruction of justice.
Court records obtained in April by 10 On Your Side show officers were dispatched to Onelife Fitness in Newport News and spoke with Vick.
Newport News Police had received information that Vick was wanted in Montgomery County, Va. on a contempt of court charge.
Vick reportedly tried to run after an officer advised him he was going to be placed under arrest.
The officer stated in court records that Vick pushed him away and into a countertop when he tried to stop him.
Vick was sentenced to 12 months in jail with 11 months suspended.
The charges for assault on a law enforcement officer and obstruction of justice were withdrawn — or nolle prossed — Monday.
