CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - Several New River Valley groups came together to show support for local men and women in uniform.
On Friday, the New River Valley Wives Behind the Line organization delivered food and drinks to the eight police departments where their husbands work.
They said even though the shooting in Dallas is far away, police officers here are still deeply impacted by the loss and the hatred.
"Regardless of what state you're in, it affects you because they're their brothers and sisters," said NRV Wives Behind the Line director Heather Pence.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Citizen Support Group said it will continue pushing to educate the public on all the safety programs offered by the deputies.
