Police say he stole her red Nissan 4-door sedan, crashing it a short distance away on Ford Street. Investigators say he then threatened a second woman with a knife, stealing her minivan. The teen left the scene, traveling Old Rustburg Road into Campbell County. That's where police say the minivan was found, abandoned with a flat tire and other damage.

Less than 2 hours later, just before 7 p.m., the 16-year-old was taken into custody. He's charged with multiple felony charges, including carjacking, grand larceny, breaking and entering with the intent to commit robbery, hit and run and two counts of reckless driving. He's being held at the Lynchburg Juvenile Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing, anyone with information is asked to call police.
