Pulaski County honors WWII veterans with July 4th ceremony

PULASKI (WSLS 10) - Pulaski County gathered to celebrate freedom and pay a special tribute to those who fought for that freedom in World War II.

Monday's ceremony included the playing of Taps and the national anthem, as well as the Missing Man Table.

The speakers acknowledged 13 World War II veterans still living in Pulaski County.

"It means everything. You just can't explain things like this to people," said WWII Army veteran George Rash. "It's really nice that they do these things."

Rash was a prisoner of war in 1945 during what he said was the coldest winter of the war.

The main speaker, Olivia Clark, served in the Army, Air Force and Civil Air Patrol under General Patton. Clark later became one of the first female deputies at the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.
