United Way launches Stuff the Bus campaign

CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - The United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd launched its seventh annual Stuff the Bus campaign to help kids in need.

This is a chance for people throughout the New River Valley to donate school supplies to low-income children. The United Way is asking for everything from notebook paper, to pencils and markers, to rulers. They say backpacks are the greatest need.

Last year, 10,000 items were passed out to 478 kids. They are hoping to exceed that this year.

Teachers will also receive some of the collected items to give to kids they identify as being in need.

You can drop off donations at any of these locations:

Montgomery:  Walmart, Kroger on South Main Street in Blacksburg and Dollar General in Riner.

Radford:  Radford Public Library and Dollar General.

Floyd: Floyd Pharmacy, Dollar General, Citizens and Slaughter's Supermarket.

If your family needs assistance with school supplies for your children, or you would like additional information, please contact United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd at (540) 381-2066 or by email at info@unitedwaynrv.org.
