4th of July Cake

Aleisha Daniels from For the Love of Sweets is showing us how to make a beautiful 4th of July cake that is sure to impress!

Here's how to make it:

*Baked and cooled cake ( for extra fun you can color one layer red, one layer blue and then have one white layer)

*Buttercream

*some buttercream colored blue

*white Ghirardelli

*red CANDY food coloring

* fun decorations

- chocolate covered strawberries

- sprinkles

- fondant stars

- Oreo truffles

- etc.

Once your cake is baked and cooled, fill it with buttercream in between each layer of cake. Spread the white buttercream on the outside of the cake and then refrigerate until firm.

Once firm take the blue buttercream and add in spots along the sides of the cake and then smear with your offset spatula to make a watercolor effect. Put bake in the fridge while you prepare the next step.

Take your white chocolate and follow the direction on the back to melt. then add the red candy food coloring until desired color is achieved. Put into a piping bag, squeeze bottle or ziplock bag. Take your cake out of the refrigerator and carefully squeeze along the top edge so that it drips down the cake.

You can now decorate the cake to your hearts content!
