(WSLS 10) - Most people with thoughts of suicide do not truly want to die. Today, you can attend a safeTALK workshop to become a suicide-alert helper. The half day training is available to anyone over the age of 15, teaching you the TALK steps: Tell, Ask , Listen and Keep Safe. The workshop starts at 9 a.m. at Blue Ridge Behavioral Health.

The 500 block of Pierce Street in Lynchburg will be closed starting today. Crews will repair water lines. The road is expected to reopen tomorrow afternoon.

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors meets today to finalize the county's budget. The $78 million dollar proposal is a four percent increase from last year. Personal property and real estate tax rates will remain unchanged.

Several non-profits will take part in the Picnic Table Paint Off today at Soaring Ridge Brewery. The groups have painted picnic tables representing their organizations. You can donate to the groups and vote for your favorite table. Soaring Ridge will make a donation for the top two tables getting the most votes. Giving Day at Soaring Ridge runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack holds a town hall meeting today in Abingdon, talking about the opioid epidemic in the region. Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe and Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and other community leaders will attend. This is the first of several town hall meetings meant to bring awareness about opioid addiction and look for solutions.
