(WSLS 10) - It's an annual tradition for many families. The Salem Fair kicks off today and runs through July 10th. According to organizers, it's the largest fair in the Commonwealth and recognized as one of the top 100 fairs in country. More than 350,000 people are expected to attending during the fair's 12 day run.

The Salem Red Sox will make a big announcement today. General Manager Ryan Shelton is not releasing details of the announcement ahead of a news conference on Friday, but says it pertains to next season. The news conference starts at 10 a.m.

The amended intergovernmental agreement, allowing Botetourt County to join the Roanoke Valley Greenway Commission, will be signed this afternoon. Current members, including the cities of Roanoke and Salem, the town of Vinton and Roanoke Valley had to agree to the amendment. A Botetourt County spokesperson says the advantages of being part of the commission include having a voice and a vote to the regional planning efforts.

Gleaning for the World will collect supplies today for flood relief victims. They are collecting things like food and water, as well as work gloves and cleaning supplies. Gleaning will setup at the Sam's Club on Ward's Road in Lynchburg today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

God's Pit Crew continues collecting supplies for victims of last week's flooding today. The organization has sent seven truckloads of relief supplies to West Virginia, leaving its warehouse nearly empty. It says the biggest need right now is money, so they can buy bottled water and other supplies in bulk. Three collection drives will take place today. You can donate between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Sam's Club in Danville and the Walmart in Galax. From 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., you can drop off donations at Buckner Industrial Rigging in Rustburg.

Feeding American Southwest Virginia will deliver food today to Callaghan and White Sulphur Springs. The organization held a food drive on Tuesday in Roanoke. Those donations will arrive to areas hard hit by flooding later today.

One hundred youth from the Boys and Girls Club will join the Car Ripken, Sr. Foundation and law enforcement for the kickoff of the Badges for Baseball law enforcement mentoring program. The kids will learn about Quickball, a fast-paced version of baseball, before then attending the Salem Red Sox Game. The Badges for Baseball program is a juvenile crime prevention program created by the foundation, pairing kids and cops together to have fun and learn critical life lessons.
