(WSLS 10) - A Bedford County man, charged in a deadly car crash, will enter a plea today in court. According to the Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney, Christian Riddle was indicted in March for involuntary manslaughter. He's also charged with two counts of maiming while driving intoxicated, DWI and driving with a revoked license. According to court records, Riddle was driving in his friend's car when it crashed on October 17th. 18 year old Ivy Adkins and a 14 year old were in the car. Adkins died in February from injuries she suffered.

American National Bank holds a financial planning seminar today. Advisors will offer free will checks, investment information as well as information for estate trusts and planning. The seminar starts at 11 a.m. At Mariners Landing.

The Wytheville Redevelopment and Housing Authority holds a ground breaking ceremony today for the Freedom Lane Housing Development. According to Town Council meeting minutes, the project consists of building 24 units which will provide housing to veterans and people with disabilities.

Martinsville Mayor Danny Turner and Vice-Mayor Jennifer Bowles will attend a reception tonight at the residence of the Japanese Ambassador. The reception is being held together with the Department of Commerce's Select USA Investment Summit. Mayor Turner attended a similar reception in April where he promoted Martinsville to the international community.

Both lanes of Main Street in Lexington will close tonight between Diamond Street and Massie Street. Crews will set bridge components across Main Street. A detour will be in place.

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors could discuss opening a police department in the county. Supervisors requested county staff research the issue. One member of the board says it's needed and would be a positive change in the county. If a police department is added, the role of the sheriff's department would change.

Attorney General Mark Herring will be at Radford University today, speaking at the American Legion Boys State of Virginia. More than 700 high school students have been chosen to participate. The program shows the students about state and local government. Governor Terry McAuliffe is expected to speak on Thursday.

REACH holds the first of several block parties in Roanoke today. The block parties are to allow community members to interact with one another and to help everyone understand the community's vision for the area. There will be games, music and good at the party. It starts at 6 p.m. on Dale Avenue.

Vinton Town Council holds a public hearing tonight about rezoning the old Vinton Branch Library. The building was sold last month for $700 thousand to Richard Macher, who plans to open a Macado's restaurant. Council will also hold a public hearing about increasing its lodging tax in preparation for a possible hotel.
