PULASKI COUNTY (WSLS 10) –  A Dublin man is charged after deputies say he shot a man in the neck and held him hostage.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 12:08 a.m. Monday from a female saying a man came into her home in the 6000 block of Old Route 11 and pulled a handgun on her and her boyfriend.

Investigators say the female ran through the home and escaped through a bathroom window after the suspect showed the gun.

She told deputies she heard two gunshots fired inside her home as she started to run to her neighbor’s house for help.

According to the female, she called her boyfriend’s cellphone and he told her he had been shot in the neck and was being held at gunpoint.

Deputies tried to make contact with the men inside the home.  The suspect released the victim at 1:37 a.m. before locking himself back inside the home.

The victim, Robert Taylor, 47, was taken to Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.  His condition is unknown.

After hours of negotiations, investigators convinced Christopher Draper, 37, to come out to the front yard. He came out around 5:45 a.m. armed with a revolver and threatened to hurt himself.  Tactical officers were able to convince Draper to drop the weapon and arrested him.

Draper is charged with abduction and malicious wounding.  He is being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond.  Additional charges are pending

According to deputies, the Draper knew Taylor.

The investigation is ongoing.
