Danville duplex catches fire

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - A home caught fire late Friday night in Danville. It happened sometime after 11 p.m. at 823 Stokes Street in Apartment A.

According to Battalion Chief Chris Key, the building was a one-story duplex.  When crews arrived light smoke could be seen coming from the building.

Firefighters immediately began working to extinguish the fire. No one was inside at the time.

The fire was quickly put out and no one was injured.

The home sustained minor fire, smoke and water damage. A neighboring apartment was slightly damaged by smoke.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the fire marshal's office.

The people living inside are being helped by the American Red Cross.
