ROANOKE (WSLS10) - The Carilion Breast Care Diagnostic Center has a new biopsy chair that allows patients to feel more comfortable during cancer screenings.
This chair differs from others because it allows the patient to sit up during procedures.
The Smith Mountain Lake Poker Run donated $15,000 to the Breast Care Center for the chair.
"I've lost quite a few friends to breast cancer just over the past couple years," said Donna Ashbery, an organizer with the Smith Mountain Lake Poker Run. "I've lost four friends and know a couple that are fighting it. They are the strongest women I know."
Over the last four years, the group's raised $23,000 from its annual motorcycle auction. All of the money has been donated to the Carillion Breast Care Center.
