Thousands remain without power after Thursday's storms

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - As of Friday afternoon, thousands of people are still without power after Thursday's round of severe storms.

As of 3:12 p.m., AEP was reporting that 3,236 customers in Campbell County do not have power.  Bedford County has 224 customers without power and Franklin County has 131 customers without power. That's an improvement from 11:27 p.m. Thursday. At that time, AEP was reporting that 4,789 customers in Campbell County did not have power. Bedford County had 1,802 customers without power and Franklin County had 1,195 customers without power.

As of 3:23 p.m., Southside Electric Cooperative is reporting five customers without power in Campbell County, zero without power in Pittsylvania County and one without power in Bedford County. Those number were much different at 11:29 p.m. Thursday when SEC was reporting 890 customers without power in Campbell County, 375 without power in Pittsylvania County and 266 without power in Bedford County.

As of 3:15 p.m., Dominion is reporting 738 outages among its Southside Virginia customers. 166 of those customers in Halifax County, 75 of those customers in Cumberland County, 95 of those customers in Campbell County and none of its customers in Appomattox County.

Those number are down from Thursday at 11:30 p.m. when Dominion was reporting 2,947 outages among its Southside Virginia customers. 1,378 of those customers in Halifax County, 741 of those customers in Cumberland County, 237 of those customers in Campbell County and 222 of those customers in Appomattox County.
