Thomas Road Baptist Church members donate thousands to rebuild house in Appomattox County

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - As donations for the Rebuilding Hope house trickle in, the members of Thomas Road Baptist Church have given the largest financial gift yet.

After the tornado touched down in Appomattox County the church took up an offering, collecting $30,000 dollars.

Church staff says it wants to give that money to help rebuild a home for Nancy Harris who lost her husband and house in February's tornado.

"We wanted to make sure that we know that about three months down the road when most people's lives are back to normal there are a lot of people's lives who aren't. When we heard about Nancy and the situation of her losing her husband and being pinned in a car, and losing her home, we could not, not be a part of this," explained Tim Grandstaff, TRBC Missions and Outreach Pastor.

Along with the $30,000 dollar donation skilled members of the church are planning to volunteer to help rebuild.
