ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Some kids can ask a lot of questions, but 10-year-old Ava Rosa DeVries is asking questions and getting her own column in a local, family-focused magazine.
Ava has always been curious. "I really wanted to know what was going on around me," she said.
With the help of her father, Jason, who also happens to be her videographer and editor, she came up with 3 Questions With Ava Rosa. It's a YouTube-based video interview series with different news makers in the Roanoke Valley.
"I will research them and come up with questions that maybe people would want to know the answers to," she explained.
Ava asks three questions because as she says, you can learn a lot from three good questions. Her interviews are now going to print.
Roanoke County-based family magazine, Growing Up In The Valley is bringing the "youngest journalist in the region" on board to share her work. She'll be a regular contributor to each issue of the magazine, with her articles available both  in print and online.
"Kids could read it. Families could read it," Ava explained. "It was just really good for everyone in Roanoke."
"Kids have a lot of great ideas," said magazine editor Andrea Eagan. "It's amazing the way they look at the world and they pick up on things that sometimes us grown-ups miss."
Ava has built a following on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, satisfying her natural curiosity one interview and three questions at a time.

Growing Up In the Valley is published monthly and is available at more than 600 locations throughout the Roanoke and New River Valleys.
