Millions raised for victims of Orlando nightclub tragedy

Heather Pelat, Media General – ORLANDO (MEDIA GENERAL) – A GoFundMe page set up following Sunday's massacre at Orlando's Pulse Nightclub has raised more than $1.5 million for the victims' families and that number continues to grow.

Fifty people, including the gunman, are dead following the shooting that began just after 2 a.m. Sunday. Fifty three others were injured in what is now the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

Equality Florida, the state's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, started the GoFundMe page to support the victims' families. Money raised will go directly to the victims and families affected.

Equality Florida is working with local organizations - who are also helping to raise funds - to ensure the money is distributed properly.

The city of Orlando is identifying victims on their website. So far, the identities of 33 of the 49 victims have been posted on the site.
