Foundation work begins on Rebuilding Hope house in Appomattox

APPOMATTOX (WSLS 10) - Before you can build a house, you first have to lay a foundation.

Volunteers started digging out the cross base on the home God's Pit Crew, Spirit FM and WSLS 10 are teaming up to build in Appomattox.

Soon, Evergreen Basement Systems will lay the footers for a foundation the company is donating to Nancy Harris after February's EF3 tornado.

Shauna Parsons, Evergreen Basement Systems owner, said, "seeing whole sections of our community that we drive by every day or we know people who live there just completely devastated, so for us, we had to do this, we had to be part of this project, we had to."

We still need to raise about $34,000 to reach the $100,000 goal.

Thank you to those who have stepped up in the past week, specifically members of Thomas Road Baptist Church and Tree of Life Ministries of Lynchburg.
