Officials investigate deadly torturing of Petersburg puppies

PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after they say three puppies were found tortured to death in Petersburg.

WWBT-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1TXYbPG) Petersburg police and animal control officers reveal in court documents that the animals were found dead in a fenced-in area behind a mobile home in April.

The court records describe the puppies' muzzles and bodies covered in glue.

A necropsy report shows the dog's stomachs contained over-the-counter and prescription medications, as well as insecticides.

Additionally, records state that two of the puppies had whole firecrackers inside their stomachs. The dogs were also burned and had cuts.

No arrests have been made yet.
