(WSLS 10) - Franklin County Schools holds a Teaching and Learning Summit starting today. Topics covered include technology, science, math and hands on activities. The summit continues through Thursday.
The Virginia Workforce Network will meet with employees laid off from Mod-U-Kraf Homes in Rocky Mount. Staff will talk about benefits, services available and training offered at The Franklin Center. The event starts at 2 p.m. at The Franklin Center.

The Pulaski County School Board meets today to talk about a new combined middle school. The board is expected to approve a request for proposals. It lays out the requirements for proposals to be submitted by architectural and engineering firms. The board will also discuss and approve the content for superintendent applications.
Virginia Tech professor Marc Edwards and other will hold a news conference today to talk about the results of a Flint Michigan water quality study. Researchers have studied the amount of chloroform and other chemicals in the water. They are expected to show that preliminary sampling of water with Lake Huron as the source meets all federal standards.
Work to repair a collapsed retaining wall could create delays on Route 460 in Giles County. Since last week, the eastbound and westbound left lanes have been closed in "the bluffs" area between Narrows and Rich Creek, about four miles from the West Virginia border. All traffic will use one eastbound eastbound lane. Flaggers and a pilot truck will control traffic. Repairs are expected to take about two weeks.
