ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - We are months away from Thanksgiving, but the Roanoke Rescue Mission is already looking to the Drumstick Dash.
Each year, artwork from local children is chosen to be printed on the race shirts.
The Mission is asking little artists to drop off their turkey drawings at the Sidewalk Art Show in downtown Roanoke June 4th and 5th.
Mission staff will be set-up inside the Taubman Museum of Art.
"The Drumstick Dash is such a well-loved community event. We're going into our 11th year, we have a new decade of moving our feet so others can eat," explained Amy McArthur, Development Associate. "In the turkey drawing contest is just a way to get the younger members of our community involved in an important way, but also a really creative way."
New this year, race organizers will select 10 drawings as finalists and the public can vote for their favorite at a Second Helpings Gallery art reception on August 20th.
