Deputy: Bedford County man charged after attempting to kill girlfriend

BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A Bedford County county man faces multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder after the sheriff's office says he tried the kill his girlfriend.

Deputies charged Christopher W. Petersen, 29, with attempted second-degree murder; discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling and assault and battery.

On Friday May 27, at 12:04 a.m., Bedford County 911 dispatchers received a call to 1140 Oyler Road in Hardy.

The caller reported her boyfriend, Petersen, put a gun to her head and threatened to kill her.

After arriving on the scene, she advised the deputy that both of them had been drinking and that Peterson had also assaulted her.

She said after putting the handgun to her head, he pulled the trigger twice. He later fired two shots inside the residence.

Petersen is being held without bond in the Bedford Adult Detention Center.
