Dozens fill Lee Memorial Plaza to honor fallen veterans

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Dozens gathered in the Star City at Lee Memorial Plaza where veterans laid wreaths to honor fallen servicemen and women.

The Disabled American Veterans Honor Guard opened the Memorial Day service by posting the colors.

The Roanoke Valley Veterans Council and the Southwest Virginia Military Officers Association of America held the service.

The group said a prayer for all of U.S. military forces around the world and remembered those who have given their lives to protect our freedoms.
