Friday Willow the Jack Russell was given another chance, and taken in by the Mid Atlantic Jack Rescue.

Wythe County says the terrier was taken to its animal shelter about a week ago after she was said to have broken into a chicken coop and killed more than 30 chickens.

Due to the nature of the incident, the county was not allowed to release her to the general public.

County leaders began talks with a rescue group who could save her life by moving her out of the state.

Rescuers say they're excited about the county's decision to save Willow's life.

Debbie Turner, with the group Friends Wythe K9s, says, "I'm just thrilled. I jumped for joy when I found out she was going to be saved today."

Willow is on her way to a shelter in Pennsylvania.
