ROANOKE (WSLS-10 SPORTS) The thirty thousand dollar Don Holliday Memorial scholarship goes to Patrick Henry's Christian Blackwell in 2016.  The lacrosse team captain also played golf as a senior. He's headed to UVA for college and has already been named the VHSL 5A male athlete of the year,  and the Wendy's male High School Heisman winner for the state of Virginia. the Don Holliday Memorial foundation has awarded more than 400 thousand dollars in scholarships in the past 29 years. The scholarship is administered by the Roanoke Valley Golf Hall of Fame which each year choses a deserving boy or girl from Southwest Virginia who also has an interest in golf.<

"It means so much like I said I'm used to you know minimum-wage or 10 bucks an hour doing yard work and stuff so every dollar counts.  You have to understand the value of a dollar and so it just means so much and it's going to be put to good use at UVA," explains the 2016 Don Holliday winner, Christian Blackwell.
