MONTGOMERY COUNTY (WSLS 10) -- Michael Morva, the man convicted of conspiring to help his brother, William Morva, escape from jail, will be released from prison Friday.
Michael Morva is currently being held in Sussex II State Prison. He is nearing the end of an 11 year total sentence; eight years for burglary and three years for conspiring to help a prisoner escape.
Michael's brother, William is on death row after escaping from a deputy's custody at what is now known as LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in August 2006. William later used the deputy's gun to kill unarmed security guard Derrick McFarland and Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Eric Sutphin during a manhunt the following day. A federal appeals court rejected William Morva's appeal earlier this month.
Michael Morva was sentenced to 10 years, with two years suspended on the burglary charges and three for conspiracy.
He is scheduled for "good time release" May 27, according to Virginia Department of Corrections spokesman Greg Carter.
