A Familiar Face has the Girls Lead at Scott Robertson

ROANOKE (WSLS-10 SPORTS) One of the premier junior tournaments in the nation, the Scott Robertson Memorial teed off this morning.  Rain has caused some soft conditions, leading to favorable scoring.  Roanoke Country Club is the site for the three days of competition.  The divisions:  Boys and Girls---14 and under and 15 to 18 age groups.  The girls defending champion out of Cary, North Carolina is Emilia Migliaaccio.  She jumped out early with a 4 under 67 to take the first round lead in day one of her title defense.

"It feels like home to come back here for the third year, experience definitely helps. Everyone is really welcoming and so kind so I definitely was looking forward to this tournament.  I felt really good about my game-- I've been playing well this year and so I was seeing how I could hit good golf shots made some good putts at the end so it's a good day," explains the defending champion.

The leaders in the other divisions-Tommy Cao at -4 in the boys 15-18, and Yoona Kim at +3 in the Girls 14 and under. The boys 14 and under is a log jam with 4 players shooting even par 71. Round two begins Saturday morning from Roanoke Country Club.
