Martinsville Fire Department begins new marketing campaign


MARTINSVILLE (WSLS10) – A Martinsville firefighter is using a popular song to try to help people understand what the fire department does and why it’s so important.

Lt. Tim Jaimison has created a YouTube video set to Charlie Puth’s “One Call Away.”

As of Thursday morning, the video had received close to 650 views since it was published on Tuesday.

Jaimison said the fire department is now trying to market itself more to the community in the wake of the large budget cut it had to take this year and may have to take next year as well.

The department’s budget was cut by just more than 5 percent this year, leaving the department in a position where it could potentially not have enough firefighters on shift to be able to rescue someone from a burning building.
