CHATHAM (WSLS 10) - Virginia public libraries are now offering a new incentive to encourage people to get outside and explore.

Each library now has four "State Park Backpacks" that can be checked out.

The backpacks include items like maps, informational guides about local plants and animals, and a free pass to any of Virginia's state parks.

"Libraries are all about learning," said Pittsylvania County Library Director Lisa Tuite. "Between what you can learn in the library and what you can go and experience in real life, it's bridging that gap between knowledge and real life."

The backpacks can be checked out for up to two weeks at a time and there is no limit on how many times you can check them out.
