(WSLS 10) - Veterans in central Virginia will get to visit several national monuments and memorials in Washington D.C. today including the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam Memorials. This is the sixth year that the Exchange Club has sponsored the trip. It's free for veterans to take part.

The Grayson County Sheriff's Department cuts the ribbon today, opening its new public safety facility. As we first told you in December, the county spent about $665 thousand to buy the old Grubb Building. The current Sheriff's office was built in the 1930s and was designed to house only half of what it holds today.

Small businesses in Southside will get help today on staying in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's standards. The agency's rules apply to business of all sizes and are meant to help keep workers safe. The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Office is hosting the seminar today starting at noon at New College Institute.

A new park is coming to Pittsylvania County. A groundbreaking ceremony takes place today at the site at Gretna Middle School.

The City of Lynchburg holds a public meeting tonight about a new parking meter pilot program. You'll learn about the program and how to use the new parking kiosks in 1200 block of Main Street and at the Community Market. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Parking Management Office.

Wythe County holds an auction today to sell more than twenty properties. The properties have delinquent property taxes dating back at least seven years, with taxes on some properties going unpaid since 1997. The auction starts at 2 p.m. at the court house. If you want to participate, you'll need to arrive early to register. You will need your drivers license.

An economic development announcement will be made today in Wythe County. The Joint Industrial Development Authority of Wythe County makes the announcement today at 10 a.m. at Progress Park.

Food Lion makes a donation today to Feeding America Southwest Virginia to help kick off the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Food Lion will donate 10,000 meals to the food bank. The food drive is coming up on Saturday. To take part, you can fill up a bag with food and leave it at your mailbox for your letter carrier to pick up with weekend.
