Lucy Addison teacher wins Virginia Lottery “Super Teacher” award

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) – A Roanoke teacher won a special prize from the Virginia Lottery on Monday.

The lottery awarded Lucy Addison Middle School teacher Jason Long with a “Super Teacher” of the year award. He is one of eight Virginia educators to receive the honor.

Lottery officials presented Long with a $2,000 check during a special assembly held at the school.

Long’s wife nominated him for the award, one of nearly 800 nominations from across the state.

Lottery officials said they look for a teacher who is creative in the classroom, uses technology in innovative ways and connects with parents and students.
