Organization teaches students about distracted driving

MONTGOMERY COUNTY (WSLS10) - One organization is pushing to keep teenagers safe behind the wheel. "Youth of Virginia Speak Out" held a mock car crash at Eastern Montgomery High School. Organizers said the goal is to make sure students are not distracted while driving.

They said after prom and graduation, there's an increase in teen traffic deaths, especially during the Summer months.

School leaders said they're students are seeing the consequences behind distracted driving.

"Now that they are out and about celebrating and graduating, things like that we want students to be responsible and students to be safe and its really great the care of this community has for the students," Tim Baynum, administrator at Eastern Montgomery High School said.
