Strawberry Festival set for 36th year in downtown Roanoke this weekend

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) —  The Community School's 36th annual Strawberry Festival will be held on May 6 and 7 at Elmwood Park in downtown Roanoke.

This timeless area tradition ushers in a new season with everyone's favorite sweet treats. The beloved annual event draws in 20,000 attendees from across the region. Families, professionals and children enjoy two days of live music, games, food, arts and crafts.

According to Community School's website, more than 2,400 man hours are used to produce the event which was voted as one of "Southwest Virginia's Best Festivals" and "Favorite Annual Festival" by two local publications.

WSLS 10 is again a proud partner of the festival.  You can meet the WSLS 10 team on Saturday, near the amphitheater. John Carlin, Lindsey Ward, Kristina Montuori, Jenna Zibton, Patrick McKee, Brie Jackson, Rachel Lucas, John Appicello, Eric Johnson and Erin Brookshier will be in attendance.

The Strawberry Festival is also a destination on the Virginia Proud Weather Tour.  WSLS 10 Chief Meteorologist Jeff Haniewich will visit and broadcast the weather live on Friday.
