ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - About a dozen women spent the day working on a Habitat for Humanity home in Northwest Roanoke.

Several volunteers hung up drywall as part of National Women's Build Week.

The event is intended to demonstrate women are just as capable as men even when it comes to construction.

"You learn plumbing, learn putting flooring down, but the important thing is we're helping someone and giving somebody a home," says Carolyn Fardell, volunteer.

National Women's Build Week happens every year during the week leading up to Mother's Day.
