In Virginia, the Department of Labor and Industry has investigated 44 workplace fatalities since the beginning of 2015, 3 include the deaths at the Danville Goodyear plant.

"Cause cutting corners around safety issues cost lives," Chuck Simpson, with Communications Workers of America said.

The recent deaths at the Danville Goodyear plant is why Simpson is hoping the AFL-CIO can push political leaders to get more funding for more workplace inspectors.

Members on both side of the aisle have shared their reaction, Republican Senator, Frank Wagner has said he didn't see compelling evidence to have more inspectors, while Delegate Sam Rasoul has said funding for inspectors is critically important.
