ROANOKE (WSLS-10 SPORTS)- It started in 1966 and has become the largest scholastic track meet in SW Virginia.
The 51st annual Cosmo Invitational kicked off at William Fleming High School with middle school events on Thursday.

37 area schools and more than 1500 student athletes are expected to compete in the 3-day meet.
"This is our fundraiser.  All the charitable work we do including the two scholarships and we've been doing that.  I'll have athletes running in the past come up to me today and I always look forward to Cosmo and I think that's still the case," explains Meet Director Randy Lower.
High School preliminary heats begin at 3pm on Friday. The Finals are slated for Saturday in all running events.
