Round Town: festivals and fishing

(WSLS 10) - The Vinton Dogwood Festival continues this weekend. Enjoy the rides, carnival foods and parade. The festival runs tonight from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Saturday, there's a 5K at 8:30 and parade at 2:30. The midway is open from noon until 11 p.m. Then it wraps up on Sunday with events happening from noon to 6 p.m.

The City of Salem kicks off its Learning on the Lawn series Saturday. Events will feature everything from DIY workshops to home brewing. This week's topic is "Grow Your Plate and Seasonal Cooking," where you'll learn about the offerings at the farmers' market and how to turn your purchases into affordable and easy meals. The program starts at 9 a.m. on the lawn at the library.

Head to Blacksburg Saturday for Fork and Cork. It's a food, wine and art festival. More than 20 Virginia wineries will be there as well as food, live music and cooking demonstrations. It's noon to 5 p.m. at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center. WSLS 10 is a proud sponsor of this event.

Head to Smith Mountain Lake for the 48th annual Smith Mountain Lake Fishing Tournament. All money raised benefits the Challenger Little League Baseball program, which provides kids with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the game of baseball. The tournament runs Friday through Sunday.

Get your tickets for Smokey Joe's Cafe at Mill Mountain Theatre. It's the longest running musical revue on Broadway. The show lets you experience the excitement of popular New York entertainment in the Roanoke Valley. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday and Sunday.
