(WSLS 10) - The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors will discuss selling the former Vinton library. The building would be sold to Richard Macher for $700,000. The county would then have to rezone the property to allow for a full service restaurant. Macher intends to open a Macado's restaurant.

The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors holds a public hearing tonight about building a new cell tower in the Hollins District. The tower will be 154 feet tall and located on Hollins Road. Apex Towers, the company filing the rezoning request, says the tower would provide additional service along Hollins Road where coverage is very weak or non-existent.

Voters in Salem will get a chance to meet the candidates running for City Council. The Salem Council of PTAs is sponsoring the event for the four people who are running for three open seats. The candidates will be asked questions from the audience. The forum begins at 7 p.m. At Andrew Lewis Middle School.

Delegate Sam Rasoul and community partners celebrate the opening of the New Chapter Housing Initiative today. The program helps ex-offenders rebuild their lives. Organizers say the goal is to provide affordable transitional housing for ex-offenders. Those who apply and are accepted go through job and finance training.

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors meets tonight to adopt the county budget for next year. Revenue and expenses are expected to be two percent above this years. No new fees or taxes are proposed. The largest increases are for judicial administration and public safety.

Virginia Tech President Tim Sands, the dean of the Pamplin College of Business and a group of alumni will ring the closing bell today at the New York Stock Exchange. The group will celebrate the university's initiatives in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Road work in Buena Vista could impact your commute today and for the next couple of days. Traffic will be down to one lane in both directions at the intersection of West 29th Street with Rockbridge and Beech Avenues. Crews will remove and replace pavement and paint lines. Work is expected to wrap up on Thursday.

Martinsville City Council holds a public hearing tonight about the city's budget. Revenue and expenses is expected to be 3.7 million dollars less than this year. The budget proposal eliminates nine full time and seven part time positions. Funding for senior services is eliminated in the budget which will force the senior center to close July 1st.

Real Estate Investors of Virginia will host a debate for candidates running for Roanoke City Council. Questions will focus on business, jobs and real estate issues. The debate starts at 6:30 p.m. At Corned Beef and Company in downtown.

A community meeting takes place tonight at William Byrd High School. The meetings follows recent threats reported to William Byrd and Northside High Schools. The meeting gives parents and community members a chance to ask questions about the threats made. Another meeting takes place on Monday at Northside.

The Botetourt County Board of Supervisors holds a public hearing on the county's budget for next year. The county expects to spend 1.8 million more in the year starting July 1st. The county expects a loss of revenue due to construction at exit 150 off of Interstate 81. County staff will receive a two percent raise. Revenue from property taxes is expected to increase because of the recent reassessment.
