ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - For the second consecutive year, WSLS captured more Associated Press awards than any other television station in the Roanoke-Lynchburg market.
At the awards ceremony on Saturday in Charlottesville, WSLS won nine awards including three superior awards, which is also the most in the market.

The superior winners are:
- Best Anchor: Lindsey Ward
- Best Weathercaster: Jeff Haniewhich
- Best Investigative Reporting: An in-depth look at missing equipment at the Salem VA Medical Center by Jenna Zibton and Greg Moore
WSLS also won six meritorious awards in the following categories:
- Continuing Coverage: Noah Thomas Search
- Continuing Coverage: Journalist Killed
- Best Reporter: Dawn Jefferies
- Best Weathercast: WSLS Weather Team
- Best Sports Operation: John Appicello and Alyssa Rae
- Best Website: WSLS.com
In addition, John Carlin was honored for career achievement, winning the prestigious Robert Gallimore Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Service in the Public Interest.
WSLS competed with other large-market stations in Virginia and West Virginia for these awards.
