Old Dominion University student fatally shot at party

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) – Police say an Old Dominion University student was fatally shot while at a house party in Virginia Beach.

Virginia Beach police said in a news release that 20-year-old Darren Campbell was shot around 2:25 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police say officers had been called to the same house about three hours earlier for a report of a fight and shots being fired. Officers found no evidence of any gunshots, and no one was injured in that earlier incident.

Police say the party took place at a private home that had been rented for the weekend.

Homicide detectives are investigating. Police have not identified a suspect.
