16-year-old arrested after Lynchburg double shooting

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg police arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with two shootings on Thursday afternoon.

At about 6:15 p.m. Thursday, the 16-year-old as was taken into custody, charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

At about 12:41 p.m., officers responded to the report of a malicious wounding in the area of Younger Park where they found 19-year-old Tyrik E. Barbour, of Lynchburg, shot near the basketball courts. He was taken to the Lynchburg General Hospital from Younger Park.

A second victim, a 16-year-old boy from Lynchburg, was taken to the hospital.

Police say both victims are currently in stable condition. The incident is still under investigation by the Lynchburg Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.
