LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) – Volunteers in the Hill City are channeling the force in an effort to collect canned goods to fight hunger.

Canstruction is an annual competition and food drive where participants create works of structural art using only canned goods.

This year’s theme is “a galaxy far, far away.”

After the displays are judged, cans will go to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

In our region, the Lynchburg region, we help serve 17,000 people a month with food,” explained Lynchburg branch manager,Jim Scrivener. “It means a lot to serve the Lynchburg area.”

Lynchburg’s canstruction competition started 4 years ago and this year, organizers expect to collect about 25,000 pounds of food.
