The Craig County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating to find out more about the circumstances that led up to Austin's death.

Meanwhile, students and faculty held a vigil Thursday around a makeshift memorial on the football field.

Austin played football and soccer. Those who knew him say he could make anyone laugh. He loved working on cars, and he had hopes of one day being an engineer in the military.

"You soul search every time," said Craig County High School principal, Robert Stump. He knew Austin for several years. "Why are they taken from us? Why? How's the family going to handle it? "

Students and teachers wore pink clothes and ribbons in Austin's honor Thursday. Pink was his favorite color.
