Hokies quarterback competition narrows

BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS) - As Virginia Tech's spring football practices continue the quarterback competition has narrowed down. Christiansburg product Brenden Motley and junior college transfer Jerod Evans seem to be emerging as the front runners to get the starting nod.

"Jerod and Brenden took most of the reps with the ones and at times were really efficient and at times it could be a lot better," said Hokies head coach Justin Fuente.

Judging by his last year's performance, Travon McMillian seems to be a safe bet to start at running back. But in the running backs room the competition still continues.

"I just look at it as competition, like he pushes me, I pushed him and we all as a running back group push each other," said redshirt freshman running back Deshawn McClease.

The team has a closed scrimmage this Saturday, the spring game is on April 23rd.
