MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) -  A Martinsville bakery now has a unique distinction. Some fudge from "Uptown Sweets" was presented to the Japanese Ambassador to the U.S. at the Ambassador's home in Washington, D.C. today.

Martinsville's Mayor and Vice Mayor presented the fudge at an event. They were invited because of Martinsville's strong ties with japan.

The owner of Uptown Sweets said it was a sweet honor to have the mayor request some fudge.

"It was quite a surprise and it was an honor that he would even consider us to represent Martinsville in that way," said owner Colleen Butker, "we spent a little extra time on this box just to make sure it was a little extra special."

The Mayor and Vice Mayor also presented the Ambassador with a pen and letter opener set from local artist Terry Mitchell and a gift basket from Martinsville Speedway.
