Gov. McAuliffe discusses business with Southside leaders

HENRY COUNTY (WSLS10) - Gov. Terry McAuliffe now has a better idea about what issues matter most to people in Martinsville and Henry County.

The governor participated in a business round table at Patrick Henry Community College Wednesday.

He took questions from students and business leaders.

He also spoke about how the new religious freedom bill in North Carolina is killing jobs there. It allows discrimination against the LGBTQ community.

PayPal is canceling its 400 employee facility there because of the bill.

"Folks, my job is to create jobs. We need to be open and welcoming to everyone. That's what I focus on every single day. That's how you recruit businesses," said Gov. McAuliffe.

Gov. McAuliffe also emphasized his belief that making community colleges stronger is a vital part of the state's future.

He said more and more jobs are requiring more than a high school education but less than a four year degree.
